Cisneros tells Latino group education is key
He advises Hispanics to expect big demographic shift

Even during the darkest days in American history when brother fought
against brother in the Civil War, Congress passed legislation creating
land-grant universities to help teach the illiterate masses, Henry
Cisneros told the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium on Monday.Education is more vital today, he said, as the demographic shift will
dramatically increase the number of minorities, many of whom drop out
of school or pass up college. Whether this country can compete in the
coming decades all boils down to education, Cisneros said.[snip]
