Houston loves to give

Houston charities among the top in the nation
— reported by the Houston Business Journal

For the third consecutive year, Houston’s charities rank among the top major U.S. cities for overall financial performance, according to data released by Charity Navigator, which tracks nonprofit groups.

Houston finished third in overall performance, trailing San Diego and Cleveland, but outperformed 27 other markets in a survey of 30 cities in this study. Meanwhile, Houston charities rank first for spending on programs — 84.6 percent — but they also earn the highest organizational efficiency score, a score that reveals how efficiently and responsibly a charity functions day to day.
