Texas’ job base grows 2.9 percent in February

Texas gained 25,400 jobs in February, according to labor market figures released Thursday by the Texas Workforce Commission.
The state added a total of 279,700 jobs over the 12 months ended February 2006 for an annual growth rate of 2.9 percent statewide.

Survey: Texas workers more optimistic about economy

The Texas Employee Confidence Index rose 5.8 points to 60.2 in February, as more workers expressed confidence in the economy and their personal employment situation, according to the Texas Spherion Employment Report.
The index is more than 6 points higher than the post-Hurricane Katrina low in September 2005.
